Wendy Lanxner -  guitar, mandolin, flute, vocals

Wendy began a life of music teaching herself how to play sopranino recorder in the 4th grade. She then took up the fllute, and was a finalist in the Seventeen Magazine and General Motors National Concerto Competition (where virtuoso violinist Joshua Bell got his start). Wendy went on to study with Robert Willoughby at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and began writing songs during her college years. Since the early 1990s, she has lived in the Washington area, where she has performed with numerous groups such as Chopteeth, Bottomland, the Jezic Ensemble Women's Choir, WonderGround and Turnabout, appearing in many area venues and festivals, including Blues Alley, the Birchmere, Black Rock, the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage, Mr. Henry's, Iota, the Rosslyn Spectrum, Dance Place, the Takoma Park Folk Festival, Adams Morgan Day, and the Kunta Kinte Heritage Festival. As a member of the world beat group Bottomland, she was featured in a story on NPR's Weekend All Things Considered. Wendy's voice and flute can be heard on several recordings, including Suzanne Brindamour's You Are Here and Amikaeyla Gaston's award-winning Mosaic.

Wendy teaches music privately, and comes up with song ideas while walking the family dog Louie.
